Ice Ice Baby

Well today was a fun day, we had free christmas lunch at the international meeting thing, then went ICE SKATING!!! it was greeeeaat! haven't ice skated since i was 8! oh except for brunei's 'wax skating' in the mall, which was really shit. hahah. uhhh, then tonight i just got back from a christmas carol service by the uni great hall, kinda fell asleep during the christmas readings thing, but the music was cool, everyone was singing with christmas spirits and all. first proper christmas experience ive ever had, so that was nice. :)

i'm supposed to be studying for my test on friday but i really cant be bothered to right now. just gna watch big bang theory and hopefully fall asleep. anyways, thats all for today, hope ppl still read this blog. if not, then i guess its just for me to read. :(

till next time, isa says.
treasure the sun! its fucking freezing.

Most Interesting Religous Experience Ever.

So today was the first time i got to go to sembahyang jumaat ever since i got to Cardiff cuz its the first time i didn't have class on a friday! :) Anyways, it was the craziest ive been to.

when i left the house, it was raining (which has been happening on a regular basis now - which is very depressing, reminds me of Forks town from Twilight ;) hahah) so i was wet the whole time i was cycling there (oh i have a bike that use to go to places here cuz everythings close by). So when i got there, the khutbah was still on and ppl were waiting outside cuz it was full outside. This arab guy was nice enough to offer a share of his umbrella which made me feel very "i'm a muslim, so arabs here are my brothers". hahah. so after the khutbah finished, we were all waiting to go inside, but then the guy infront of me said it was full and we couldnt smbhyng inside....

SO WE PRAYED OUTSIDE IN THE DAMN RAIN ON THE WET PAVEMENT!!! i was very "shit is everyone seriously gna pray out here"??? so some ppl used newspapers, some ppl brought tikars, but i had NOTHING! and i didnt want to leave cuz it was the only time i could smbhyng, so i was all screw it, ill try something new. so i ended praying on the wet pavement. when i went down for the sujud i could smell the molds and fungus on the pavement, and so i didnt want my forehead to touch the ground. so i just kinda kept a 1cm space between my head and the ground. i dont think my prayers was 'sah' anymore, but oh well. and my knees were freakin killing me cuz the ground was so hard...it was cement!

anyways, that was it for today. i spent the whole day at home eating on my couch watching tv. didnt even study :( but yeah, interesting experience it was.

till next time, isa says.
you should always come early for friday prayers. :)

Pryfsgoel Caerdydd - thats Cardiff University in Welsh

Hello ppls! its been a crazy long time since i last blogged, which was way back in brunei. i was just bored today, and i have no idea what made me remember, but i remembered about my blog! so i thought i'd make a post about my days in uni. :)

anyways, its been just over a month since i left the sad and depressing atmosphere back at Brunei International Airport... :( but since then, things have been good, not as bad as thought it would be. The first couple of days was reeeeallllyyy shit cuz i missed induction week AND a week of lectures, leaving me clueless like shit of wth was going on.

the first of class, i decided to walk from home hoping my trustworthy Cardiff map (the one the school gave) would be reliable enough to get me to my school....buttt noooooooo some of the streets on the damn sheet were nameless! so i had to spend 3 pounds on a proper map, which in the end did eventually take me to school....an hour later.

so anyways that day, i went to my first class and it was mechanics, with this lecturer Dr. Kuhaloo i think, or sumthn like that. i thought he was South african cuz he kinda had nick's complexion, and sounded kinda S.African. But i found out two days ago, he's actually Indian! very qualified man though. anyways, back to my story. after an hour of mechanics, i looked at my schedule and saw that i had another class after that in the same room. so i stayed inside for the next class. then suddenly when the woman lecturer came in and started talking, she was talking about all this shit i had no fucking clue what in the world it was about! so i was freaking out like shit, thinking, wth am doing here, this is bad! but then at the end of class, i asked the teacher if she had any spare notes, since i missed a week before. then she asked "are you a first year?" then i said "yeh". then all she said was, "you were in the wrong lecture, it says that this is a 'spare lecture' in your timetable" meaning it was an open lecture for classes that need more time for lectures. so i was basically in a third year lecture. phew.

other than that, my first week was great! i met a couple of friends, a few chinese malaysians, and this BBC (british born chinese) whos freakin smart. theyre all cool cuz they kinda remind me of brunei and the chinese ppl back home :) so im glad for that. they also make me study for once, which is a good thing. hahah.

what else aaah? uhhhh....well Cardiff itself is great! its a working class city where the standard of living is one of the cheapest in UK, which means i dont have to spend as much on rent and shit, leaving me with more pocket money! :D

last saturday i got a one-off job thing. its rugby season thingy, so wales is playing every week at the MILLENIUM STADIUM!!! (the place where FA cup finals used to be before Wembley was finished renovating) anyways, i got a job working as a "Programme Seller" (programme - the book with all the programmes of that match, schedule, player names, etc...) so i got to sell the programmes inside the stadium and watch the match for FREE!!! i was basically paid to watch. it was raining so the stadium roof thingy was closed which awesome!

ummm apa lagi ah... last week and this monday annd next monday i have 15% exams, so i studied like a mother fucker last week, leaving evrything last minute and stayed up till 2am. but the studying was worth it, at least i didnt feel clueless answering the questions.

ummmm, and so far thats everything new for now... im skyping with the lovely girlfriend who i miss oh so terribly. she's eating nasi with aunty sonia's deliciously made prawns. makes me miss her chicken curry, with kicap manis....mmmmmmmmmmm. syg, if possible pls tell aunty son to cook specially for me when i come back? :D i wish i was home :( i love you syg, so much... you know what would be great?? if you were here with me! wow!

Till next time, isa says.
Hope we'll all meet up again some time :)

your money's worth.

i had a wonderful time with the mrs. today :) we tried out the fish spa, which was purrrrty cooool. it tickled at first but then you kinda get used to it.

(i accidentally wrote "used to it" as "yoused to it". hahah. irrelevant, but anyways.)

yeh anyways, the fish spa was $15 for half an hour. purrrrty worth it. and they said, add an extra $10, you also get a foot massage and foot paraffin (which is apprently something to do with candles.). So purrrrty good deal huh? But the thing they don't tell you is, the foot massage is only for 20 minutes and the paraffin for 10. Now i don't find that so good no more. Thats 25 for an hour altogether. a 20 minute massage is way too short. if you go to my massage place on the other hand (HONG HONG FOOT MASSAGE its called), you pay $10 for a 45 minute massage. As a cheap bruneian, i find that an excellent-ay deal. so go and make my favourite massage place rich. :)

other than that, we also went to Deseo in Regent Square kiulap to 'shop'. it was okaay. made me realize that theres way more girl clothes shops than guy clothes shops in brunei. i'm on an advertising spree today aye.

my necks hurting, so i fink im gna stop now.

so till next time, isa says.
go get a relaxing foot massage at HONGHONG.

Aloha!

Today for sungkai, mummy and i decided to have japanese. funny story, oh yes it was. weeellll, we only decided to go there about an hour before sungkai, and knowing excapade, we werent sure if we were gna get any seats. so we called to check anyways, and they said we got a small table, and we said, bah manasaja tah nada tampat lain.

Anyways, when we got there, they showed us to our table, and yes it was small, literally just for two people. Our table was right behind another tables seat (our table was connected to the back of the table infront of us). so we were facing these people's back. Anyways, mummy decided to take the inner side of our seat. just as she was about to sit, the guy infront of us decided to swing his arms back wanting to rest his arms around the shoulders of his 'girl'. BUT INSTEAD, HE FREAKIN SWATS THE KICAP BOTTLE THAT WAS ON OUR TABLE! and so the soy sauce spilled all over our table and was dripping onto my mum's lap! so my mum being all shocked and shit, went crazy and tried to dodge the kicap while shouting "AH EH EH YA ALLAH YA ALLAH!"

she got pissed and went to the toilet to clean up, apprently a few drops got onto her skirt thing and her slippers was a lake of black liquid. so when she came out, she was all, "eh buduh org dapan ani, inda tau malu tah banar, inda lagi say sorry tu. HE SHOULD MOVE!" and yes its true, he didn't even say sorry. while my mum was in the toilet, i was still at the table, and all the guy said was "ok kah?" bitch that guy man. sama kawan, pandai ya ketawa, sama kami inda ya cakap sorry. fucker. and yeh that was it :)

till next time, isa says.
goodnight.
